Frequently Asked Questions
-
Lovellfaye is currently accepting a limited number of 2026 and 2027 brides. Because each heirloom redesign is highly personalized and completed through a custom fitting process, availability is intentionally limited each year.
We recommend inquiring as soon as you are seriously interested in beginning the redesign process to allow ample time for consultations, sketches, fittings, and construction before your wear date.
-
This is incredibly common — in fact, the majority of Lovellfaye brides require some level of resizing or reconstruction to achieve their desired fit and silhouette.
During your virtual design consultation, Lovell will walk through personalized redesign options based on your specific heirloom gown and vision. Depending on the dress construction and available fabric, resizing solutions may include restructuring the bodice, utilizing additional fabric from the train or skirt, reapplying lace appliqué, incorporating corsetry, or fully reimagining portions of the gown.
Once we see photos of you in the dress, we can begin determining the best reconstruction approach and share examples of similar heirloom redesigns completed for past Lovellfaye brides.
-
Submitting an inquiry. The next step is scheduling a virtual design consultation where we will discuss your heirloom gown, wedding vision, and possible redesign directions tailored specifically to you.
-
During the virtual design consultation, we discuss your heirloom wedding dress, design inspiration, desired silhouettes, and overall vision for your wedding day. Whether you are interested in a full heirloom redesign, bridal wardrobe pieces, or custom accessories, the consultation allows us to begin exploring thoughtful ways to transform your gown.
Following the consultation, custom sketches are created based on the ideas discussed to help visually develop the redesign direction before moving into the full redesign process.
-
Yes! The Lovellfaye redesign process is intentionally collaborative and evolving. While the consultation and sketch phase establish the initial design direction, many final design details are refined throughout the fitting process once you are able to see the garment on in person.
Fittings allow us to thoughtfully explore proportions, silhouettes, fabric placement, and finishing details together so the redesign feels uniquely tailored to you and your vision. Minor design adjustments throughout the process are completely normal and often part of bringing the final heirloom piece to life.
-
Yellowing and staining are incredibly common with vintage and heirloom wedding dresses. Lovellfaye has trusted referral dry cleaners who specialize in heirloom wedding dress cleaning and restoration, while select lace cleaning and brightening treatments can also be completed in-house depending on the fabric and condition of the gown.
The cleaning approach depends on both the condition of the gown and your redesign vision. Some brides choose to preserve the natural vintage character of the fabric, while others prefer a brighter restoration prior to reconstruction.
If certain stains or discoloration remain, we are often able to thoughtfully redesign around them in creative ways that preserve the beauty and sentiment of the original gown.
-
Most heirloom redesign projects are completed within approximately 12–14 weeks once fittings begin. Timeline may vary depending on the complexity of the redesign and your wear date.
Rush options may be available for select accessories.
-
Yes! All unused heirloom materials are carefully returned following the redesign process. Many brides choose to preserve the remaining fabric alongside their new piece for future keepsakes, accessories, or additional heirloom projects later on.
Over the years, many Lovellfaye brides have returned with their remaining fabric to create meaningful accessories for future generations and family members.
